TheThingShake coverTHE THING ‘SHAKE’  – TTR005

Two years after their THE THING RECORDS label-debut with the legendary BOOT album, the Scandinavian freejazz vikings release another heavy and wonderful monster of a studio-album, produced by Johan Bertling! Intense, passionate and accurately defined, they clearly mark their own genre within a genre!

Latest news from TheThingRecordsCamp: We’re continuing to work on new tours, new albums, re-issues on vinyl of old classics and a rocking live
recording from London with Thurston Moore! Call The Police, We’re Never Gonne Sleep!

Coming out first this fall is the EP ‘Viking’ – Paal’s masterpiece from the MONO session tweaked by Bob Weston, together with a reissue on vinyl of one of our classic albums ‘GARAGE’, an album that defined the term Garage Jazz! Later this fall and in connection with an extensive European tour is the release of our live recording with Thurston Moore from Cafe Oto in London last year, its heavy as fuck and will turn your guts into zombie flesh! Next out in the spring of 2015 will be another re-issue on vinyl of our first album, and from when it all started out as a tribute to Don Cherry back in the change of the millennium; namely The Thing! We will also record our next studio effort during next spring and tour the South Americas. Among shitloads of other exciting THINGS we’re also getting ready to tour the US next fall so please check back in soon for more news and updates!

And you can see us live this summer at The Sildajazz Festival in Haugesund/Norway on Friday, Aug 8th and at Reykjavik Jazzfestival on Wednesday, Aug 20th!

We would also like to pay our humble condolences to an old friend (and our first producer) : Christian Falk, who just very very sadly died of cancer! He was an immensely important collaborator, musician and producer in the Swedish music scene for the last four decades through numerous bands and specially the legendary Imperiet. Rest In Peace Christian!
